It is truly an amazing experience when you are in the presence of someone who has played such a big role in the Jewelry Fashion World.
Henry Dunay visited my store in mid November of this year and let me tell you- there was not one bit of dissapointment in the house. He drove from NY the night before and arrived in Virginia Beach after midnight. He was at my doorstep at 7:45 the next morning ready to show Virginia what real jewelry is made of. He greeted us with a delightful mood and an amazing jewelry collection that told an unbelievable story. This was no ordinary year for Henry Dunay. He is celebrating his 50 years of designing artistry in gold and platinum. This is a man whose hands still showed signs of design and handmaking. To this day, he still sits in his studio in NY with his thirteen assistants sketching his next big project.
My staff and I sat in amazement as he taught us his inspirations, ideas, passions and love behind each and every fragment that goes into his jewelry. Twelve jewelry cases were filled the most jawdropping pieces of jewelry. We watched a ten minute documentary on Henry and his work, and let me just say, it’s a shame to call his art, jewelry. I saw a video in the gallery of Henry doing his work and was intrigued. When I was told he was stopping in, I did the same. He was quite busy, but always took a moment to speak with anybody. The pieces he had on display were breath-taking. The imagination of his work is unique, very finished and refined. It really was several steps beyond jewelry. Jewelry simply sparkles. His pieces capture the imagination and some of them seem to have a story to tell in their detail and thoughtful creation almost as if Henry created them to express something he had seen or somewhere he had been.
